Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins dies at 50

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins died at 50, according to a statement by the members of the rock band on social media.
While band members did not reveal how Hawkins died, they added that his death was a “tragic and untimely loss.”
“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins,” the statement read.
“His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time,” the rock band added.
The American rock band was founded in 1994 by Dave Grohl. Hawkins joined Foo Fighters in 1997 by taking over former drummer William Goldsmith.

He served as an essential part of the rock band for 25 years.
Several celebrities and musicians expressed their condolences and paid tribute to the drummer on social media.
American musician and Rage Against the Machine frontman Tom Morello shared a picture with Hawkins on Twitter and wrote, “God bless you Taylor Hawkins. I loved your spirit and your unstoppable rock power.”

“Rest In Peace my friend,” Morello added.
Former Dream Theatre drummer Mike Portney said, “I’ve always had so much admiration for him.”
“Amazing drummer & a gem of a guy who was always fun to be around,” he added on Twitter.
Oliver Taylor Hawkins was born in Texas’ Fort Worth in 1972. He spent his younger years in Laguna Beach, California. After playing for Sylvia, a local Southern California band, Hawkins landed his first big break as a drummer for Canadian vocalist Sass Jordan.

Before joining Foo Fighters, Hawkins spent the mid-1990s on the road, touring as a drummer for Canadian-American musician Alanis Morissette.
The musician is survived by his wife Alison and their three kids.
