‘The Crown’, the Netflix series delving into the reign of
Queen Elizabeth II and the inner dynamics of the British Royal Family over the
decades, seemingly ruled over the category dedicated to television shows as it
swept up a total of four awards. Popular Canadian production ‘Schitt’s Creek’,
on the other hand, bagged two prizes, reported AFP.

The ceremony, held in two separate venues in the East and
West coasts: Rainbow room in New York and The Beverly Hilton in California, saw
a largely remote event. Actors and directors were reached through screens of
their devices.

The show itself did live up to the usual, annual hype of
Golden Globe.

The Crown took away both the awards of best television drama
actress and the best actor awards, won respectively by Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor
for playing late princess Diana and Prince Charles. The tally was further
enlarged, as Gillian Anderson acquired the supporting actress award for
depicting former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

‘Schitt’s Creek’ received awards for being the best comedy
series as well as featuring the best actress: Catherine O’Hara.

Apart from the two, Netflix’s ‘Queen’s Gambit’ too did well.
Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays the role of the protagonist in the show – Elizabeth Harmon,
took home the Best Limited TV Series award.
