Henry County Shooting: At least 4 people dead, shooter at large

Henry County is experiencing an active shooter incident, and authorities are looking into it. The event happened late on Saturday morning in Hampton, an 8500-person city located about 40 miles south of Atlanta.

At least four people have been shot and killed, according to Hampton police, who spoke with Channel 2 Action News. As stated by the police, the shooting took place in Hampton’s Dogwood Lakes neighborhood. Authorities advised the public to stay away from this area because the offender is still at large.

“I can confirm that four people are deceased,” county government spokeswoman Melissa Robinson told The Associated Press by phone. “As of right now, the suspect is still at large.”

Henry County officials also posted along the same lines on Twitter and Facebook on Saturday afternoon, stating, “The suspect is still at large, and the public should avoid the area.”

The McDonough Street neighborhood was the focus of the search, according to the authorities. The precise address of the shooting was not given by police.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was assisting in the incident, along with a number of regional law enforcement agencies like the Henry County Homeland Security and the Henry County Crime Scene Unit. Nelly Miles, a GBI spokeswoman, stated that the only information she had was that GBI agents had been asked to assist.

Authorities in Hampton, Georgia, intended to reveal additional information about the case at a press conference on Saturday afternoon.

The shooter was described by police as a man in his mid-50s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and donning a dark shirt with a red tone. The shooter was last seen in a black 2017 GMC Arcadia with a tag number DHF756.
