I thought it was a terrible speech, Trump on Obamas Lewis eulogy

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that former President Obama’s eulogy at the funeral of John Lewis was “terrible” and “ridiculous.” He also said that the eulogy intended to attack him rather than celebrate Lewis.

“I thought it was a terrible speech. It was an angry speech. It showed his anger there that people don’t see,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News. 

In one of his most explicitly political speech since leaving office, Barack Obama had lashed out at the Trump administration. He had condemned the use of federal agents against protesters and attempts at voter suppression.

The President said that the eulogy seemed more like a campaign speech.”He lost control and he’s been really hit very hard by both sides for that speech. That speech was ridiculous,” Trump added.

John Lewis, revered rights activist and 17-term Georgia congressman died of cancer on July 17. Obama had eulogized Lewis last week in Atlanta, calling the late lawmaker the “finest disciple of Martin Luther King Jr.”

US President Donald Trump who shares a turbulent history with Lewis had not attended the funeral. He also was not part of any memorial events that took place at the US Capitol.
