In the past few days, we have seen some heartbreaking videos like babies being tossed and desperate Afghans trying to hop on the wheels of an aircraft to escape Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover of the country. But, a video and photographs of a little Afghan girl skipping on the tarmac after being evacuated to Belgium have brought some warmth in these depressing times.

The picture, taken by Reuters photographer Johanna Geron at Melsbroek military airport, shows a little girl hopping on the ground with a smile on her face as she follows two adults, presumably her parents. The contrast between the expressions on the faces of the adults and the child is moving. Here is the much-talked-about photograph.
