President Joe Biden was heavily trolled after he said that Russian President Vladimir Putin was “losing the war in Iraq” when he meant to say “Ukraine.”

Biden’s latest blunder came when he was asked how Putin’s hold on his power was weakened in the aftermath of Wagner Group’s aborted uprising on the South Lawn of the White House. “He’s clearly losing the war in Iraq. He’s losing the war at home and has become a bit of a pariah around the world,” Biden said. The POTUS was on his way to Chicago to deliver an address on the economy when he made the gaffe.

The video of the gaffe went viral on social media with a lot of people reacting to it and people claiming that Biden has lost his mind.

When asked once more whether Putin is less strong than he was a week ago, Biden responded, “I know he is.”

In his first public comments since the incident, Biden earlier this week attempted to separate the United States from the weekend rebellion in Russia by adamantly asserting that the West had nothing to do with the uprising. The White House continues to be guarded in its interpretation of the consequences of the unusual events that occurred in Russia last week, during which the Wagner group’s forces—one of the most capable components of the Russian military in Ukraine—mutinied and threatened to assault Moscow before changing their minds.

Biden has spoken to the leaders of France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada and Italy since the events over the weekend. He also spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“It’s still too early to reach a definitive conclusion about where this is going,” Biden said in the East Room. “The ultimate outcome of all this remains to be seen, but no matter what comes next I will keep making sure that our allies and our partners are closely aligned in how we are reading and responding to the situation.”
