Snapchat, the video
messaging platform, is experiencing a technical snag with many users across the
United States unable to log in to the app. Nearly 125,000 users have reported
problems logging in on Downdetector, according to media reports.

Snapchat acknowledged
the problem
and Snapchat Support put out a tweet saying: “We’re aware of an
issue preventing some Snapchatters from logging in. Hang tight, we’re looking
into it and working on a fix.”

The tweet was
posted at 6:51PM ET.

Snapchat’s outage follows
a nasty bug from June where a version of the Snapchat app meant for iOS would
crash at launch. The bug was eventually fixed in an update released soon after.

Meanwhile, Snapchat
users went into a tizzy following the outage with many posting complaints and
some posting funny memes and the messaging platform’s expense.

As of July 2021,
Snapchat has 293 million daily active users. The app has seen more than 23%
growth over the last one year. Nearly four million ‘snaps’ are sent everyday on
the platform on average.

The app has found
particular popularity with teenagers. The most significant feature of the app
is that content posted and/or sent on the app disappears within some time.

Snaps can consist
of photos or short videos as well as text captions and drawings. The videos on
the app disappear after a single viewing.
