NBA YoungBoy earns his first Grammy nomination and fans can’t keep calm

American rapper NBA YoungBoy has earned his first Grammy nomination. He has been nominated in the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for the track ‘Wusyaname’ along with Tyler, The Creator & Ty Dolla $ign.

After the nomination was announced on Monday, several of the rapper’s fans expressed their happiness on Twitter.

“Damn NBA Youngboy really got nominated for a Grammy for the first time just now.. surprising since he been basically a top music act for years now,” one person tweeted. 

“NBA Youngboy and Saweetie got their first Grammy noms! OMG love this for them,” another person commented. 

“CONGRATULATIONS!! @tylerthecreator and NBA Youngboy FOR THEIR GRAMMY NOMINATIONS!!! So proud of them,” another fan tweeted.

Other nominees in the category include Doja Cat’s for “Need to Know”, J. Cole, Lil Baby for “pride . is . the . devil”, Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow for “Industry Baby” and Kanye West, The Weeknd, Lil Baby for “Hurricane”. 

Born on October 20, 1999, as Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, YoungBoy Never Broke Again released six independent mixtapes between 2015 and 2017 following which he was signed to Atlantic Records. The rapper released the single “Outside Today” in 2018 which peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The following year, he released the single “Bandit” with Juice Wrld, and a week later, he released AI YoungBoy 2 (2019). In April 2020, 38 Baby 2 wad dropped, which became his second chart-topping project on the Billboard 200.

Wusyaname dropped in June 2021. Tyler, The Creator showed love to NBA Youngboy after a fan asked about their collaboration.

“How’d you get young boy on a song?” a fan asked, to which he replied, “Hes a sweet heart man, sending love to youngboy, such an interesting person.”
