Public documents show that his mother, Lori Lynn Crusius, filed for divorce in 2001. She is a nurse by profession.
Patrick Crusius Crime:
On August 3, 2019, Patrick Crusius traveled nearly 600 miles from North Texas to El Paso before opening fire on shoppers in Walmart. He wrote about an “invasion” of immigrants into the United States in a hate-filled, racist tirade that was posted online minutes before the attack.
Nearly two months prior to the incident, Crusius purchased 1,000 rounds of 7.62mm hollow-point ammunition as well as the WASR-10, a semi-automatic version of the AK-47 built in Romania.
Along with the 23 people that were killed, 22 others were injured. Guillermo “Memo” Garcia, the 23rd victim, was shot and died in a hospital in April 2020, over nine months after the incident.

Patrick Crusius Sentencing:
Patrick Crusius was sentenced in a courtroom in El Paso after entering a guilty plea to federal charges of hate crimes in February. He reportedly remained silent during the three-day hearing and did not respond when the punishment was read.
Crusius’s plea deal called for 90 life sentences, one for each charge on which he had been indicted. This included 45 counts for charges linked to hate crimes and 45 counts for charges related to the use of a firearm during violent acts. Along with the 22 persons injured, he also admitted guilt to additional hate crimes and gun counts.
Although federal prosecutors decided not seek the death sentence for Crusius, prosecutors in the continuing case in Texas state court could if Crusius is convicted in that case.
