House fines Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene for going maskless in US Capitol

Marjorie Taylor Greene, who made the Nuremberg remark against US President Joe Biden’s vaccination mandates, was fined for the third time in the House of Representatives for not wearing a mask, according to media reports.

A fine of $2,500 has been imposed on the Georgia lawmaker for defying the mask mandate in the US House of Representatives.

Thomas Mager, the chief of the US Capitol Police said that those who would enter the premises of the Capitol without wearing a mask could be charged under DC Code 22-3302 for unlawful entry and can also be subject to arrest.

Officers in the Capitol have also been instructed to report any lawmakers who refuse to wear a mask, according to reports from The Independent.

While first-time offenders are subject to just a warning, Marjorie Taylor Greene not wearing a mask in the Capitol this week was her third offense. The House Sergeant at Arms imposed an increased fine on Greene, who is a member of the Republican party.

Chip Roy, who is a lawmaker from Texas, was also caught in violation of the mask mandate. However, Roy was fined $500 for his second offense.

Earlier this year in May, Marjorie Taylor Greene filed a lawsuit against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for instating a mask mandate and fining $500. The lawsuit was filed alongside Kentucky’s Thomas Massie and South Carolina’s Ralph Norman.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, on Thursday, criticised President Joe Biden’s mandates for COVID-19 vaccines and cited the Nuremberg Code, which refers to a framework set up to prevent inhumane medical experiments on humans.
