A small plane crashed in San Pedro on Monday afternoon, resulting in injuries to at least two individuals. The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. when the plane crashed into a soccer field at the Field of Dreams park in San Pedro.
Two people were aboard the plane at the time of the crash. First responders reported that the pilot was still inside the aircraft when they arrived and had to be extricated.
Both the pilot and one other person were transported to the hospital in critical condition, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
There were no reports of injuries to anyone else on the ground.
Multiple agencies responded to the incident, which took place on the 400 Block of W. Westmont Dr. The plane, identified as an experimental model known as the Sling 4 TSI, had taken off from Torrance Airport at around 12:23 p.m. The aircraft is registered out of Torrance.
Further investigations into the crash are ongoing to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident. At this time, there have been no reports of fatalities.
