A shooting at Spokane’s Franklin Park left one dead and three injured. The incident took place early morning, on Saturday, and multiple people called 911 to report gunfire in the parking lot at the south end of the park.
After officers arrived, they found one person had succumbed to gunshot wounds and several others had been injured. The three were taken to the hospital, and one among them suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds to the head, Spokane-based KXLY reported.

Queen Avenue was closed from Division to Calispel Street. As per KXLY, officers reported that an altercation escalated to the shooting. However, no suspects are in custody at the moment.
A shooting occurred just a day before at Dutch Jake Park in west central Spokane. The city’s official release noted “Officers located one person who had been shot and officers provided aid to that individual until medical personnel arrived. Three other individuals arrived at local hospitals also suffering from gunshot wounds.”
Of the four injured, three were teens and one was a forty-year-old. SPD’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and were investigating the incident.

Again, on August 21, there was a shooting at West Shannon Avenue, in Spokane, where cops arrived to find a victim suffering gunshot wounds, and they died despite the officers’ best efforts. A suspect was taken into custody soon after and while authorities determined it wasn’t a random shooting, the investigation was kept open.
The city in eastern Washington state has seen an uptick in violence, with community leaders blaming gang members and laws which are soft on crime. Mayor Nadine Woodward noted, “The violence absolutely has to stop”, with many holding gangs and drugs responsible for the gun violence.
