White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki recently faced a throng of
callouts on the internet after one of her older tweets, referring to Senator
Lindsey Graham using a homophobic slur, resurfaced on Twitter, as per a report by
The Sun.

The questionable post from August 5, in which Psaki called Graham ‘Lady
G’, caught netizens attention earlier this week, as multiple people questioned the
post, calling it ‘offensive’ and ‘tone deaf’ among other things, calling on her
to apologise as well.

“Only in 2020 does #LadyG get to push a bunch of debunked conspiracy
theories while questioning @SallyQYates (aka an American hero),” Psaki’s tweet
read, referring to former acting attorney general Sally Yates’ testifying
before the judiciary committee of the US Senate, which is chaired by Graham.

The term rose to prominence last year, after gay porn star Sean
Harding threw a series of allegations against the South Carolina-based lawmaker
online, saying that his nickname among male sex workers was ‘Lady G’, which,
through a 2020 Washington Post article, appeared also to be the reference
material behind the tweet by Psaki.

The critics of Graham have been insinuating since long that he is a
closeted gay man, with the rumours being denied by him.

“If you want to know what a media double standard looks like, Jen
Psaki, as a CNN employee, can tweet this, get hired to be a White House Press
Secretary, and not even feel compelled to delete it after it was unsurfaced a
few days ago. She doesn’t care. She’s on the same team,” Steve Krakauer, editor
of Fourth Watch, said on Twitter in reference to the incident in one among many
instances of criticism.
