Alder Alfonso Marin-Sotelo, a prisoner who had escaped from a Virginia jail and was wanted for the murder of a sheriff’s deputy, was apprehended in Mexico, the FBI reported on Thursday, four days after the escape. He is 26.

Who is Alder Alfonso Marin-Sotelo?

Born in 1997, Alder Alfonso Marin-Sotelo is accused in the killing of a sheriff’s deputy. Marin-Sotelo was arrested within 4 days of being on the run by Mexican authorities.

He scaled a fence to get out of Piedmont Regional Jail in Farmville, Virginia, early on Sunday, according to investigators. He then got into a car that an accomplice had left for him in a neighboring parking lot.

In addition to being charged with the murder of a Wake County sheriff’s deputy on August 11 with his brother, Marin-Sotelo was detained on federal weapons charges.

Bruce Callahan, another prisoner, also broke out on Sunday. They managed to escape at various points, according to a statement from the Virginian county sheriff’s office for Prince Edward.

Both “manipulated the locking mechanism on the rear exit door,” according to jail administrator Jerry Townsend, according to NBC affiliate WRAL of Raleigh, North Carolina.

According to the sheriff’s office, it was informed that both prisoners were gone around 4 a.m. on Monday.

According to the FBI, Marin-Sotelo was captured on Thursday in the Mexican state of Guerrero.

In a tweet reporting the capture, the agency’s Charlotte, North Carolina, office stated that “the investigation to determine his exact movements is ongoing.”

Callahan is still at large.

According to court documents, Marin-Sotelo had been due to be sentenced on June 22 after entering a guilty plea to the federal offense of possession of a firearm by an unauthorized alien in December. However, on June 21, he eluded capture.

The accusation against a woman is that she helped him flee.

According to an affidavit from an FBI special agent, Adriana Marin-Sotelo, 31, is accused of giving a Ford Mustang to an unnamed individual who then made arrangements for it to be parked by the jail prior to the escape.

The charge against Adriana Marin-Sotelo is conspiracy to aid escape. Her connection to the prisoner who escaped is not mentioned in the court records.

A request for comment on Thursday night was not immediately answered by the federal public defender who is identified in court documents as representing her.
