Casanova was sentenced to prison two years after being detained for his involvement in gang-related offenses in a racketeering investigation. The Brooklyn rapper, who was facing a maximum penalty of 60 years in prison, was given a sentence on Tuesday of 188 months, or about 15 years, in prison.

Who is Casanova?

Rapper and composer Casanova, whose real name is Caswell Senior, hails from Brooklyn, New York. He rose to fame in the hip-hop industry thanks to his upbeat performances, brutal lyrics, and engaging persona. Casanova first gained recognition in the mid-2010s for his street-oriented songs that mirrored his upbringing in Brooklyn.

In 2016, he rose to prominence with his debut song “Don’t Run,” which went on to become a regional smash. Numerous themes of street life, survival, and individual challenges are explored in Casanova’s music.

His tunes including “Set Trippin,” “Gripped Up,” “Like Me,” and “2 AM” with Tory Lanez and Davido are among the most popular ones. He has worked with several different hip-hop musicians, such as Fabolous, Chris Brown, Young M.A., and G-Eazy.

Casanova first gained recognition in the mid-Casanova pled guilty to racketeering and drug charges in connection with his leadership role in the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation Bloods Gang in January.

In exchange for his guilty plea, the 36-year-old admitted to trafficking more than 100 kilograms of marijuana and to having a hand in a July 2020 shooting in Florida and a 2018 robbery in New York City.

Cas was one of 18 suspected gang members who were charged criminally with the aforementioned offenses in December 2020. He initially maintained his innocence but turned himself in to the authorities and entered a not-guilty plea to the accusations of conspiracy to commit racketeering, conspiracy to distribute controlled narcotics, and possession of guns.
