A suspect was detained in connection with a shooting that took place on Sunday at a grocery store in South Charleston, North Carolina. The suspect of the shooting that left one person injured was identified by the police as Lydia Spencer. She faces charges of attempted murder and wanton endangerment.
Who is Lydia Spencer?
Lydia Spencer, 32, has been accused of shooting a woman inside the Riverwalk Plaza Kroger, according to a news release from the South Charleston Police Department. According to the news release, a verbal dispute and a physical altercation happened before the shooting happened. The authorities reported that Spencer and the victim had a prior acquaintance before the incident occurred.

The name and status of the victim have not been disclosed to the public. When contacted by Eyewitness News, Kroger corporate offices confirmed the request for a statement but stated that they cannot provide any comments due to the ongoing investigation. Spencer is currently detained at South Central Regional Jail, awaiting court proceedings.
According to the investigators, Spencer was alleged to have shot a woman in the back following a violent altercation among three women. The South Charleston Police Chief, B.L. Rinehart, reported that during the incident, a Kroger employee intervened to stop the conflict, and two shots were discharged.

The victim was then taken to a nearby hospital, and as of now, there has been no information released regarding the identity or current condition.
