Who is Margo Martin, termed as “Fake Melania” by public post her appearance during Donald Trump’s arraignment
Fox News had to issue a quick correction when the network mistook an Donald Trump aide as the ex-president’s wife on Tuesday. The conservative cable powerhouse stated that Melania Trump had just arrived at the Miami federal courthouse ahead of her husband’s arraignment as the president turned himself in for arrest in the classified materials case.
“We have some video that we want to play out here, Melania Trump entering the courthouse just a short time ago,” Fox News anchor John Roberts said on Tuesday afternoon. “There she is. Just out of the vehicle and now going toward the courthouse.”
But a few minutes later, Roberts informed the audience that Margo Martin, a Trump aide, was the person they had truly seen getting out of a car.
“We thought that was Melania Trump who was arriving, apparently it was not Melania, apologies for that,” Roberts noted, adding: “But a day like today, with so many comings and goings, it’s easy from a distance to mistake two people.”
She may also be caught up in his latest legal troubles.
CNN reported that Martin was present at a July 2021 meeting where prosecutors allege Trump waved around a classified battle plan in front of an author and publisher. Audio of the meeting — where prosecutors say Trump told his visitors “This is secret information. Look, look at this.” — was turned over to federal investigators by an unnamed source.
On Tuesday, Martin shared muted video of the motorcade driving along the Florida highway and pulling up to the courthouse on her personal Instagram Story. She also shared a clip from Fox News where an anchor read Trump’s online post calling Tuesday “ONE OF THE SADDEST DAYS IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY. WE ARE A NATION IN DECLINE!!!”
