A terrifying footage has emerged which shows an elephant charging at a safari vehicle in South Africa’s Selati Game Reserve. The terror stricken occupants of the vehicle began running to save their lives. The incident occurred on Sunday when trainee guides were being driven through the game reserve situated at the edge of Kruger National Park.

The elephant unexpectedly appeared out of the undergrowth and started darting for the vehicle, as reported by the Daily Mail. In a video captured by the EcoTraining guides, a 13 foot elephant is seen flipping the jeep over while the guide screams to the occupants to ‘Get out, get out, get out’. Yelling was also heard from the safari vehicle behind the jeep being attacked as the trainee guides ran to save themselves from the wrath of the elephant.

EcoTraining said in a statement that its instructors and trainees came across a breeding herd of elephants during a routine tour on Sunday. The bull elephant was in an aggressive state. His sexual aggression occurred during the mating season; it is seen commonly in male elephants.

Elephants in musth are known to display extremely aggressive and violent behaviour towards other elephants as well as humans.
EcoTraining wrote on their Facebook account, “An elephant bull who was with the breeding herd mock charged the vehicle. The elephant bull mock charged again, when they moved forward slowly, and then made contact with the game drive vehicle and displaced it off the road.”

Luckily, no casualties were reported and everyone was able to escape the site of the incident without any injuries.
