Fans of Game of Thrones series will never forget some of the jaw-dropping scenes that took place throughout the show. However, let us step aside from the controversial ending and talk about Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey) being publicly shamed in season five of Game of Thrones.
With more than two years passed since its season finale aired, Lena Headey aka Cersei Lannister recently revealed her true feelings about that scene.
Season five saw Queen Cersei’s fall from her regal title as she was stripped and forced to endure a painful walk.
Cersei was arrested and punished for a number of crimes, one being the illegal relationship she had with her brother twin Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who secretly fathered three of her children.
Having committed unspeakable crimes, Cersei spent most of season five in prison where she was given the opportunity to confess all her crimes.
In this season, it can be seen that it was a form of public retribution where her head was shaved, stripped naked and forced to walk to the Red Keep while jeering crowds of people threw rubbish at her.
During an unmoderated video chat with Septa Unella star Hannah Waddingham, actress Lena shared her true feelings about playing Cersei during that scene.
“Yes, that was, for you, horrendous,” Lena said, adding “Someone else asked me about that the other day and I was like, you know, as an actor we all have boundaries or no boundaries. And no boundaries are obviously very thrilling when you can go to a place.”
In response, Hannah said, “I have to say one thing that, that traumatic experience — and you walking through the streets practically with your nunny out — gave us was that you and I absolutely became incredibly close.”
However, in the very next season, Cersei gets her revenge on Unella for her role in orchestrating the Walk of Atonement by blowing up the Sept of Baelor.
During their conversation, Hannah revealed the filming of the wine scene lasted 10 hours and revealed it made her feel “horrendous.”
Their acting paid off as Game of Thrones became a huge hit and gained tons of fans across the world.
