Israel says its citizens abroad in danger as Iran ‘vows revenge’
- Iran may attack Israeli targets, Israeli Defence Ministry said
- The death of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was blamed partly on Israel
- He was named by Israel as a top player in what it says is Iran's nuclear weapons quest
Israel’s foreign ministry cited an “increase” in the “threat” against its citizens abroad following Iran’s call to avenge last week’s assassination of its top nuclear scientist,AFP reported.
The death of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, killed in a bomb and gun attack on a major road outside Tehran, has been blamed in part on Israel’s Mossad spy agency by the Islamic republic.
“In light of recent threats from Iranian elements we fear that Iran may attack Israeli targets,” the Israeli foreign ministry said, warning of possible attacks against its nationals in countries neighbouring Iran or in Africa.

Iranian officials had said after Fakhrizadeh’s death that the nuclear scientist was killed in new type of ‘complex operation’.
“The weapon collected from the site of the terrorist act bears the logo and specifications of the Israeli military industry,” an unnamed source had told Iran’s English-language Press TV.
Fakhrizadeh, who had little public profile in Iran but had been named by Israel as a top player in what it says is Iran’s nuclear weapons quest, was killed when he was ambushed on a highway near Tehran and his car sprayed with bullets.
