Russian President Vladimir Putin’s income was $122,500 in 2021: Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared an income of 10.2 million rubles ($122,500) in 2021, as per income reports published by the Kremlin, Sputnik reported.
The Russian state news agency added that the statement took note of how this amount was almost 200,000 more than the previous year.
Among other declared assets on Putin’s list are a 77-square-meter apartment and a garage, as well as another apartment of 153.7 square meters that has a garage space of 18 square meters presently in use, both of which are in Russia.

His other items include two vintage GAZ M21 vehicles, a Skif trailer, and a Niva vehicle. In 2020, Putin earned 9.994 million rubles, while in 2019 his income stood at 9.726 million rubles, and in 2018 the Russian president showed earnings totalling 8.648 million rubles.
Despite Putin’s official showings, there are accounts from his critics that portray a lavish lifestyle. Alexei Navalny is the fiercest and is Putin’s most prominent opponent. He and his team posted a video on YouTube, showing Putin’s luxurious Black Sea palace, allegedly gifted to him by rich associates.
While Navalny accused the current regime to be full of “crooks and thieves”, as per BBC, the statements from Kremlin show how much those in the administration earned.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov showed an income of 12.6 million rubles, which is nearly 2.5 million rubles more than what he made in 2020. Similarly, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev showed an income of 8.35 million rubles in 2021. In 2020, this number totalled 18.11 million rubles.
Also, the Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov earned 14.5 million rubles, as per statements.
Compared to last year, the upcoming year’s reports are likely to reflect the reality of the war in Ukraine on the Russian economy.
