Morocco are on the cusp of history as they take on Portugal in the third quarter-final of the FIFA World Cup 2022 at Doha on Saturday.
While team Morocco is hoping to become the first side from Africa to make it to the semi-finals of a FIFA World Cup, Portugal will try to play in the last four for the first time since the 2006 edition of the tournament in Germany.

The winner of the match will join Croatia and Argentina in the semis and will play against the winner of France and England. Argentine referee Facundo Tello will be officiating the match. He will be assisted by fellow Argentines Ezequiel Brailovsky and Gabriel Chade, alongside Ivan Arcides Barton Cisneros of El Salvador.

Who is Facundo Tello?
Facundo Tello is a 40-year-old football referee from Argentina. He was born on 4 May, 1982 in Bahia Blanca, Argentina.

He has been enlisted as an international referee for FIFA since 2019 and was one of the referee’s in FIFA’s May 2022 list who made it to the Qatar World Cup. In November 2022, he made the headlines while officiating a match between Boca Juniors and Racing Club in the Trophy of Champions at Villa Mercedes, Argentina.

Tello awarded ten red cards in the match that became known for its devilishly high number of fouls. Eventually Racing Club won the match 2-1. In the 2022 World Cup, Tello officiated in two matches before quarter-final between Portugal and Morocco. He was the referee in the match between Cameroon and Switzerland and Portugal versus South Korea, both in the group stages. He gave five yellow cards in those matches.
