Who is Sandhya Devanathan?

Facebook-parent Meta on Thursday appointed Sandhya Devanathan as the head of Meta India. The appointment comes a week after Ajit Mohan, the country head of Meta India, resigned to join Snap. Abhijit Bose, the head of WhatsApp India, and Rajiv Aggarwal, director of public policy at Meta India, have also left the organization.

In the interim, Manish Chopra, Director, and Head of Partnerships for Facebook India (Meta) is in charge of the business.

Devanathan will focus on bringing the organization’s business and revenue priorities together to serve its partners and clients while continuing to support the long-term growth of Meta’s business and commitment to India. She will transition into her new role on January 1, 2023.

Who is Sandhya Devanathan?

Sandhya is currently the head of Meta’s gaming business for Asia-Pacific. She takes the top position at Meta India after spending nearly three years in the company. This is her second stint at Meta. Before joining Meta in April 2020, she was a board member at Pepper Financial Services Group and Singapore’s National Library Board.

She joined Meta in 2016 and helped build out the Singapore and Vietnam businesses and teams as well as the tech giant’s e-commerce initiatives in Southeast Asia.

After completing her engineering from Andhra University in 1998, she earned an MBA from Delhi University. She pursued a course in leadership from Oxford University’s Said Business School.

While Sandhya Devanathan’s birth date is not directly available, she is around 46 years old, basing calculations on her educational record. Devanathan has spent 22 years in the industry and has been with Mark Zuckerberg’s organisation since 2016.

Sandhya Devanathan’s net worth is not available right now. News reports suggest that Ajit Mohan, the person she’s replacing, earned over Rs 32 crore annually.

Devanathan has had a career spanning over 22 years across banking, payments, and technology. She spent nearly 10 years at Citi in various roles. After this, she joined Standard Chartered bank where she spent another six years. Her last job at Standard Chartered was as managing director for retail banking and payment products in Singapore.
