Avengers: Secret War, all you need to know about MCU film

Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con panel revealed two brand-new Avengers movies on Saturday. One of them is the Avengers: Secret Wars, which will wrap Phase 6 of the MCU in November 2025.

Inspired by the iconic comic book series, the movie is expected to feature a multiversal battle between variants of fan-favorite heroes and villains.

Secret Wars comic is written by Jim Shooter with art by Mike Zeck and Bob Layton. It ran for 12 issues between 1984 and 1985. The storyline of the comic is of a villain called The Beyonder, who kidnaps multiple heroes and villains, taking them to a planet called Battleworld. There, Marvel’s enhanced characters fight each other for the Beyonder’s amusement. Beyonder wants to find out who’s the most powerful Marvel character.

The MCU version of the Secret Wars will not feature the Beyonder. Instead, it is believed that Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conquerer will be the mastermind behind the crossover event. This is because Avengers: Secret Wars is one of two Avengers movies set to release in the same year, following Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ are set to release a mere six months apart in 2025 — on May 2 and November 7, respectively.

The iconic Russo Brothers credited for Infinity War and Endgame, will not be directing either of the two new movies including The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, Deadline reported.

It’s not known for sure who will be in “Avengers: Secret Wars,” but the major MCU players who are still on the board, include Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Captain America (Anthony Mackie), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Shuri (Letitia Wright), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and all those Eternals.

Also there are the characters introduced on Disney+ like Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany), Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac), and plenty more to come.
