Ben Affleck recently opened up about his decision to part ways with the role of Batman, after struggling with playing the caped crusader over many years. He reiterated how difficult it was for him to appear as Gotham’s defender in the ‘Justice League’ movie while speaking with Matt Damon in an Entertainment Weekly interview.
Affleck said, “I had a really nadir experience around Justice League for a lot of different reasons. Not blaming anybody, there’s a lot of things that happened. But really what it was is that I wasn’t happy. I didn’t like being there. I didn’t think it was interesting. And then some really s—ty things, awful things happened. But, that’s when I was like, I’m not going to do that anymore.”

He continued, explaining how Damon, his ‘Good Will Acting’ co-star, helped him move on to different projects. When Affleck spoke to Damon, the latter made him realize how the actor should be doing things that bring him joy.
It sparked the decision to be part of Ridley Scott’s recent venture, ‘The Last Duel’. Affleck spoke about this role, saying, “I wasn’t the star, I wasn’t likeable. I was a villain. I wasn’t all the things I thought I was supposed to be when I started out and yet it was a wonderful experience. And it was all just stuff that came along that I wasn’t chasing.”

In an earlier instance, Affleck had already shared how he found ‘Justice League’ filming to be extremely hard, and blamed it for his drinking relapse. This in turn prompted his decision to pull out of the solo Batman movie, which paved the way for Robert Pattinson to don the cowl. However, Affleck will be seen in the Batman role in the upcoming Flash film. The actor has noted that it marks a nice finish to his experience with the character.
