In a recent interview with Herald Sun, Ben Affleck shared that he had decided to discontinue his role as the iconic Batman. Years ago, the actor caused a massive buzz after announcing his role as Batman, but the films received a lukewarm response.

Affleck, who will be starring as Batman in the 2022 film, ‘The Flash’, decided to give up on the black cape after having a “very, very hard experience” filming the 2017 film, ‘The Justice League’. According to him, the experience was so gruesome that he would often end up drinking heavily. The 49-year-old actor had signalled his exit a year ago in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.  Affleck had stated in the
interview that he would drink too much during the filming of film and added
that the situation was a difficult challenge to confront and overcome.

Affleck’s recent announcement puts an end to the rumours surrounding a possible web series on Batman.

This isn’t the first time that The Flash star has decided to give up on the role. Five years ago, Affleck had initially decided to quit, but joined back after being persuaded.

The Flash, produced by DC Films, is set to release in the second half of this year. Apart from Ben Affleck, the film stars Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton and Sasha Calle.

Despite Affleck’s exit from the character of Batman, the 49-year-old actor continues to top the charts. At the moment, Affleck’s 2010 film ‘The Town’, has become the most watched movie on Netflix in the United States.
