Kharij, a 1982 Bengali film directed by Mrinal Sen, won a jury prize for the director at the Cannes film festival in 1983. The film is based on a novel of the same name by Sahitya Akademi Award-winning Bengali writer Ramapada Chowdhury. Kharij featured actors Anjan Dutt, Mamata Shankar and Sreela Majumdar.
