Elton John has postponed two concerts in Dallas, which were part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour after testing COVID-19 positive.

The American Airlines Center in Dallas announced that both the concerts, slated to take place on January 25 and 26, will now be rescheduled. The statement on the venue site reads, “It is with great regret that the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour dates in Dallas set for Tuesday, January 25 and Wednesday, January 26 must be postponed due to Elton recently testing positive for COVID-19. Fortunately, Elton is fully vaccinated and boosted, and is experiencing only mild symptoms. Fans should hold on to their tickets as they will be honoured at the rescheduled dates to be announced soon. Elton and the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour look forward to returning to the stage shortly.”

Notably, the British musician had just resumed the farewell tour in New Orleans on January 19. The statement continued that Elton John and the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour looked forward to returning to the stage soon.

His next show is at Little Rock Arkansas on January 29. However, the recent postponements are among the many setbacks this farewell tour has been plagued with. Initially, Elton John had kicked off the tour in 2018, but it was put off due to the coronavirus pandemic. Then, in September, the European leg was again postponed after John had to undergo hip surgery, which he’d injured after a fall.

Referring to the return of his farewell tour, John had said, “Wow, we haven’t played a show since the sixth of March 2020. This is a new experience for us, I’ve never had this amount of time off in my life … playing music, well at least since I was 17 years of age. I can’t thank you enough for being so patient. We live in funny times but we’re gonna have a great time.”
