Game of Thrones is all set to be revamped on HBO, however, with a prequel, labeled ‘House Of The Dragon’, that is likely to trace out the entire history of the Targaryen family tree. The show will star actors Matt Smith and Paddy Considine.
In a string of tweets from the ‘House Of The Dragon’ handle, the star cast announcement was made and revealed the roles being played by the actors. Emma D’Arcy will be playing the role of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen while the male roles of the Targaryen family will be picked up by Matt Smith and Paddy Considine. A socially distant table read, featuring the entire star cast, was seen in the pictures shared by handle.
Other members of the cast include Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower while Viserys Targaryen’s hand of the King will be played by Rhys Ifans.
According to the announcements made on Twitter, the show will air on HBO Max in 2022 as it just stepped into the production phase.
The prequel will be based on the highly celebrated book ‘Fire and Blood’ which focuses on the historical roots of Westeros. The show is likely to put the viewers through a throwback as it goes back 300 years from the timeline of Game of Thrones.
The character of Daenerys Targaryen, who was seen as one of the last from the Targaryen bloodline in Game of Thrones, ended the show on a cliffhanger as a lot of questions about the family’s role in Westeros still remain unanswered.
