Glastonbury Festival website witnesses glitch, ticket sales halted for an hour

Tickets for the 2023 Glastonbury Festival, one of the most anticipated yearly concerts in the UK, took longer than usual to sell off after ticket buyers reported that the website crashed several times on Sunday.

The tickets for the festival usually sell out in less than 30 minutes, but a “technical problem” delayed that by an hour. However, when the sale started at 9 am local time on Sunday, users reported that the site was crashing, which delayed the sales by an hour. 

According to reports, the last ticket for the 2023 show was sold at 10:30 am, an hour more than it usually takes.

See Tickets, the company in charge of the ticket sales for Glastonbury, asked the users to “bear with us” and claimed that they were “working on a technical problem” to resolve the issue.

“Although we are thrilled that so many of you want to come to next year’s Glastonbury, we’re sorry that a huge number of people missed out on a ticket this morning – because demand far outstripped supply,” festival co-organiser Emily Eavis said in an apology to the fans.

“Thank you to everyone who tried to buy a ticket. Your loyalty to this festival is deeply appreciated. There will be a ticket resale in spring 2023, so if you didn’t get one, please do try again then,” she added.

It was reported earlier that the cost of the tickets has gone up from 270 pounds in 2019 to 340 pounds in 2023. However, that did not dim the enthusiasm of the fans.

“We have tried very hard to minimise the increase in price on the ticket but we’re facing enormous rises in the costs of running this vast show, while still recovering from the huge financial impact of two years without a festival because of COVID,” Eavis had said while announcing the price rise earlier in October.
