John Cena cast in Looney Tunes ‘Coyote vs Acme’ movie

John Cena joins the cast of ‘Coyote vs Acme’, the live-action/CG animation hybrid feature film from Warner Bros, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
The former WWE star will move from the dangerous world of ‘Peacemaker’ to the equally accident-prone world of Looney Tunes. The upcoming film includes the classic character Wile. E. Coyote.

Those who’ve grown up with the cartoons will recall Coyote being a quiet but inventive creature bent on capturing and eating the Road Runner. In his attempts to take on this arch-nemesis, Coyote often relies on products from Acme Corporation, which have not worked out the way it was supposed to numerous times.

In this movie, we see Coyote wanting to sue Acme for its allegedly defective products. A down-on-luck lawyer takes Coyote’s case, only to discover his boss from his former law firm is representing Acme.
The film, which comes from ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows’ director, Dave Green, is touted as a part courtroom drama and part family comedy. Cena is slated to play the former boss who’s representing Acme.
Chris DeFaria and James Gunn are on board as producers while screenwriter Samy Burch wrote the script based on the 1990 Ian Frazier humour article in the New Yorker, titled “Coyote v Acme”. The film is expected to start production in New Mexico, in late March.

Cena has made good headway in acting since he hung up his proverbial gloves as a WWE wrestler. The actor has appeared in big franchise films like the ‘Fast and Furious’ part 9, and ‘The Suicide Squad‘. The latter also got him his own spinoff series, titled ‘Peacemaker‘.
The show, which is on HBO Max, has been renewed for Season 2, ahead of the Season 1 finale. Cena plays the role of an assassin with a penchant for killing. His character is tasked with saving the planet by teaming up with a group and fighting an alien invasion.
