Irrfan Khan was an Indian actor who worked in Indian cinema as well as British and American films. His career spanned over 30 years and earned him numerous accolades. He won a National Film Award for Paan Singh Tomar, an Asian Award, and six Filmfare Awards. The actor was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour in 2011. He was also conferred with a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
Irrfan Khan made his film debut with a small role in Salaam Bombay! in 1988. His other notable roles include Slumdog Millionaire, New York, Haider, Gunday and the television series In Treatment.
Paan Singh Tomar is a 2012 Indian Hindi- language biographical film about the eponymous athlete who was a soldier in the Indian Army. He won a gold medal at the Indian National Games but was forced to become a rebel against the system.
The film was released on March 2, 2021. The film won the Best Feature Film and Best Actor in the 60th National Film Awards 2012. The movie grossed US$810,000 nett in week one. The movie managed to gross US$380,000, in the third week and was declared a semi-hit by Box Office India.
