The trailer for Live To Lead, a new Netflix docuseries showcasing extraordinary leaders, inspired by the legacy of Nelson Mandela, was released on Monday, December 19, 2022.

The docuseries is a Nelson Mandela Foundation project created and directed by author Geoff Blackwell, and is produced by Cinetic Media, Blackwell and Ruth, and Archewell Productions, the production company by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The description of the show writes, “Extraordinary leaders reflect on their legacies and share messages of courage, compassion, humility, hope, and generosity. Inspired by the iconic legacy of Nelson Mandela, Live to Lead highlights the fundamental values, daily disciplines, and guiding principles that leaders employ to motivate others and create meaningful change.”

The royal couple is seen in the trailer for the show alongside the extraordinary people who will be part of the series. In the nearly two-minute clip, Prince Harry says, “This was inspired by Nelson Mandela, who once said, ‘What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived,” before Meghan adds, “It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”

Nearing the end of the trailer, Prince Harry says, “It’s about people who have made brave choices,” with Meghan continuing, “To fight for change and to become leaders” while the Duke concludes the trailer by saying, “And giving inspiration to the rest of us. To live, to lead.”

The show will feature the following seven people, counting their experiences and legacies:

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, former U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice

Greta Thunberg, climate change activist

Bryan Stevenson, social justice attorney, and advocate

Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand Prime Minister

Siya Kolisi, South Africa’s national rugby union team captain and social inequality campaigner;

Gloria Steinem, feminist icon and social justice activist, and,

Albie Sachs, anti-apartheid activist and former Justice of the Constitutional Court of South Africa.

The 7-part-series will premiere on Netflix on December 31, 2022.
