Ranbir Kapoor’s first look from ‘Shamshera’ officially out. See it here

The first look of Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor from his much-anticipated movie ‘Shamshera’ was officially released by the Yash Raj Films (YRF) on Monday, days after it was leaked on social media. In the poster, Ranbir can be seen as a fierce warrior, sporting a long mane and beard.

The movie is directed by Karan Malhotra and also stars Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in prominent roles. The film is set in the 1800s and shows the story of a dacoit tribe fighting for their right and independence from the British.

The movie will hit the theatres in IMAX on July 22 and will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Last week, fans went into a frenzy after Ranbir’s first look was leaked online. 

Reacting to the same, the movie’s director had told ANI, “We keep planning our lives so that we land things at the perfect time but in doing so we forget that the Universe is always on time. Incidents like these are a true example of that! I’m just happy that people and fans of Ranbir Kapoor are loving his look and the poster of Shamshera.”

“We wanted to start our campaign mid-next week, but it looks like fans couldn’t wait for us to begin. I don’t blame them. They have waited for too long. Ranbir is returning to the cinemas after 4 years, and it is difficult to control the excitement. I’m just glad that the reactions are great,” he added.

A YRF spokesperson also issued a statement to IANS, saying, “Yes, we have been monitoring this situation since morning. There has been a leak and it’s quite unfortunate. Ranbir is coming back to the big screen after 4 years and we wanted to guard Ranbir’s look till people see the trailer because we were aware that it would be the biggest talking point.”

“We will now need to rejig our entire plan in the run up to the trailer launch. We should have more updates to share in the next two days”, the spokesperson added.
