Leatherface is back in the new ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ trailer. The series reboot sees the iconic horror movie killer returning to Netflix on February 18.

The new ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ film is a direct sequel to the 1974 original. Speaking about it, producer Fede Álvarez, known for films like ‘Don’t Breathe‘ said to Entertainment Weekly, “I think the first movie really hit a nerve when portraying that culture clash between the countryside and the city. Back in the ’70s, the hippies were representing the youth of the city. This time, they’re more like millennial hipsters from Austin who are very entrepreneurial and have a dream of getting away from the city and back to the countryside. They’re trying to gentrify small-town America — and let’s just say they encounter some pushback”.

As we see, the trailer starts with a woman who gets in a car crash and then cuts to a chilling frame of Leatherface in a cornfield. Soon, we realize that the town of Harlow will become a bustling spot for people looking to make a new start.

However, something lurks there, in the form of a violent killer. There’s a lot of blood and gore, as Leatherface goes about with an assortment of weapons, picking out new settlers. Erin returns too, the sole survivor of Leatherface, from the original film. Now, she has a score to settle.

Amid all the violence, the trailer throws in a moment of brevity as Leatherface threatens a bus full of people. Instead of getting scared, they take out their phones, and a person even threatens the killer. It comments on how the new generation uses cancel culture as a weapon since the individual tells Leatherface not to try and pull anything off since he’s being recorded. Of course, the next moment sees the killer using his chainsaw on the person.

Elsie Fisher, the breakout ‘Eighth Grade’ star, who’s the protagonist of the new movie, said “It’s about a group of people who come to this town and things don’t quite go as planned. It mixes a lot of important real-life issues with horror themes, which is always something I love.”
