Who is Taylor York?

Taylor York, the lead guitarist of Paramore, opened up Wednesday about what led to the bang going on a five-year hiatus and what he did while on break from the band.

Giving the reason behind the enforced break, the band said that they “realised nothing is worth risking our health.”

Guitarist Taylor York spoke about how he learned of the death of a family friend during a video shoot for a single from the album.“I just started bawling. I didn’t know I had this capacity until that moment,” York recalled.

While on the break, York gave up alcohol and decided to “explore some deeper parts of myself and figure out why we do this, how it happened.”

Who is Taylor York?

Taylor was born the youngest of three boys on December 17, 1989, and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. His father is Peter York, chairman and CEO of Capitol Christian Music Group. Taylor’s eldest brother Chris York, is the Senior Director of A&R at Capitol Records.

York had been in a band with the Farro brothers (Josh and Zac) months before the two met Hayley Williams.

Zac Farro introduced York to Williams at a high school football game. He has taken part in writing songs such as Conspiracy from their debut album, All We Know Is Falling, and bonus track O Star.

York “officially” played with Paramore since 2007.

York had done backup vocals when he was younger for the band, before All We Know Is Falling.

He joined Paramore after the departure of Hunter Lamb in 2007 as their rhythm guitarist.

In his recent interview with the Guardian, the 32-year-old confirmed that he is dating Hayley Williams. However, the pair declined to comment further about their relationship. 

Hayley’s new romance comes more than five years after she announced her split from ex-husband Chad Gilbert.
