Who is Tyrann Mathieu ?

Tyrann Mathieu is a leading American footballer in the National Football League (NFL). He is the most respected safeties across the NFL because of his sheer resilience and fearless ability to play against opponents. The Arizona Cardinals selected Mathieu for the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

 Mathieu was born on May 13, 1992, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Due to certain unforeseeable circumstances in life, he was raised by his uncle and other relatives. Despite witnessing difficulties, he turned out to be the most active player in sports during his school days. Mathieu is also famous by the other name, “Honey Badger.”His teammates call him by this name because of his courageous attitude and knack for making big plays. 

Achievements 

One of the most rewarded achievements of his school days was playing as a corner-back for the Knights. He was ranked 13th in the country after his impressive football career in high school.

He was declared one of the Outstanding Defensive Player of the 2011 “Cotton Bowl classic and the Chuck Bednarik Prize, following the footsteps of Patrick Peterson.

Career 

After getting selected by the Arizona Cardinals, he began his professional career by signing a four-year contract worth $3.05 million with a bonus amount of $265,000. Mathieu had a career where he had faced two interceptions, including his first career touchdown against the Sans Francisco. In the 2016 season, he signed a five-year contract worth $62.5 million. In 2020, Mathieu intercepted a pass thrown by Baker Mayfield during the 22–17 win. In 2021, he was tested covid positive and was activated off the COVID-19 reserve list on September 11.
