“Green Book” actor Frank Vallelonga Jr has been found dead at age 60 in New York City. The late actor, who played Rudy Vallelonga in the Oscar-winning movie, was found in the Bronx after the New York Police Department (NYPD) responded to a call about an unconscious man in the street. Following the arrival of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at the location, the actor was declared dead on the scene. The cause of his death is still being determined, but initial findings hint at an overdose.

The NYPD also confirmed the arrest of a 35-year-old man named Steven Smith on charges of concealment of a human corpse, according to a report by the Variety.

Who was Frank Vallelonga Jr?

Vallelonga Jr was the namesake son of the late actor Tony Lip, whose real name was Frank Vallelonga. He was known for playing the role of Rudy Vallelonga in the movie “Green Book,” which tells the true story of his father’s 1962 road trip through the segregated South with black pianist Don Shirley.

Before his death, Vallelonga Jr had been working in some role with his younger brother and filmmaker Nick Vallelonga, to produce a movie called “That’s Amore,” according to a report in the NyPost.

Vallelonga Jr’s other acting credits include a handful of smaller roles, including an episode of “The Sopranos,” the 2018 TV series “The Neighborhood” and the “Gravesend” series in 2020.

Earlier, he lived in Maywood and has a Shore house at Vision Beach in Seaside Heights, as per Daily Voice. His Tony Lip’s Italian Restaurant was located in the Urban Farms Shopping Center, with Market Basket and several other retail businesses and eateries, on Franklin Lake Road in Franklin Lakes.

Tony Lip died in 2013, he consistently played roles as mafia crime bosses throughout his acting career, notably portraying Carmine Lupertazzi in HBO’s “The Sopranos.” He played mobster Philip Giaccone in “Donnie Brasco” and real-life Lucchese crime family mobster Francesco Manzo in “Goodfellas.” Lip also played a small role in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather.”
