Britain’s first female Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher was elected in 1979. On May 4th, the day she took office, the Conservative Party ran an advertisement in The London Evening News that said, “May the Fourth Be with You, Maggie.” Congratulations.”
George Lucas, the creator of ‘Star Wars’, was asked to say the famous phrase “May the Force Be With You” during a 2005 interview on a German news TV channel. The interpreter translated the sentence into German as “Am 4 Mai sind wir bei Ihnen” (On May 4 we are with you) which aired on May 18, 2005.

National Star Wars Day was established in 2011 at the Toronto Underground Cinema in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Produced by Sean Ward and Alice Quinn, the event featured an Original Trilogy Trivia Game Show, a costume contest, and a screening of the web’s best tribute films, mash-ups, parodies, and remixes. The date of May 4th was chosen due to the play on words.

It was observed unofficially for decades until 2019, when California lawmakers voted to declare May 4 as Star Wars Day in honour of the opening of Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge.
George Lucas, the creator of the Star Wars franchise, founded Lucasfilm which is owned by the Walt Disney Company.
May is a significant month for the popular franchise: the original Star Wars premiered on May 25, 1977, and its creator, George Lucas, was born on May 14.
