Beer, jewellery, and more: Perks of getting COVID-19 shot in India

Going by its campaign -‘Joint for Jabs’, Washington State allowed adults to claim free marijuana after they received their first COVID-19 vaccine shot. Such efforts have been undertaken in India, too. Public and private bodies have been encouraging people to get vaccinated by offering several freebies and discounts.

Here are five things you can get for free after taking the first vaccine dose:

1) Beer

SWIG Bar And Eatery at Pune’s Koregaon Park offers a free beer on the show of your CoWIN certificate. “Show us your #CoWIN certificate and your first beer is on us,” they say. Indian Grill Room, a fine dining restaurant on Gold Road, Gurgaon, is also offering a free beer to anyone who comes with their vaccine card.

2) Uber 

Uber has offered free rides to help vulnerable citizens travel to and from authorised vaccination centres in the second phase of the vaccination drive. They say that any Indian citizen above the age of 60 with co-morbidities can utilise these free rides to travel to and from the nearest authorised vaccination centre. 

3) Rs 5,000 in cash

The central government announced that Rs 5000 will be offered to a person if he/she shares the vaccine picture with an interesting tagline.

4) Gold 

The goldsmith community in Rajkot, Gujarat has been offering freebies including a gold nose pin for women and a hand blender for men. The offer can be availed only on the show of a vaccine certificate.
