1/3rd of Delhi govt hospital vaccination centres to operate for 24 hours

The Delhi government on Monday said that one-third of COVID-19 vaccination centres in all state government hospitals will stay open all day, and operate for 24 hours from Tuesday, reports ANI. Delhi is witnessing a fourth wave of COVID-19, state health minister Satyendra Jain said.

“In order to accelerate the pace of Covid-19 vaccination, it has been decided that the timings of functioning of the Covid vaccination centres should be further increased… It is hereby ordered that with effect from 06.04.2021, one-third of the vaccination sites in all the Delhi government hospitals will also function from 9pm to 9am,” read an order issued by the deputy secretary of Delhi’s health and family welfare department, S Sunil on Monday.

Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government had asked hospitals two weeks ago to open six vaccination centres to run from 9 am to 9 pm.

Delhi has logged 676,414 cases of COVID-19 so far, as on Sunday it recorded over 4,000 infections of coronavirus. Over 11,000 people have died in the national capital due to the COVID-19 disease so far.
