The 2022 Grammy Awards, which was postponed earlier this month due to the rise in COVID cases in the United States, will now take place on April 3 in Las Vegas, CBS announced in a Tuesday statement. The event was initially supposed to take place in Los Angeles on January 31.

“Once we realized the need to move the GRAMMY Awards to a later date due to current health concerns, we came together quickly with our partners at the Recording Academy and CMT, to strategically reschedule these two incredible music events and utilize the full power of the ViacomCBS ecosystem to promote them,” Jack Sussman, an executive vice president at CBS, said in a statement.

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, said in the statement, “We are excited to take the GRAMMYs to Las Vegas for the very first time, and to put on a world-class show. From the moment we announced the postponement of the original show date, we have been inundated with heartfelt messages of support and solidarity from the artist community. We are humbled by their generosity and grateful for their unwavering commitment to the GRAMMY Awards and the Academy’s mission.”

On January 6, Recording Academy said in a statement that the  64th Annual Grammy Awards, scheduled to take place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on January 31, has been postponed over COVID.

“After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show,” Recording Academy and CBS said in a joint statement.

This is the second year in a row that the event was postponed due to coronavirus. Last year’s show was originally set for January 31, 2021, but was delayed to March 14. Trevor Noah, who hosted last year’s show, will be hosting this year’s event.
