Assam floods: 122 dead, around 28 lakh affected in 26 districts
- President Kovind spoke to CM over the flood situation

Flood situation in Assam continued to be grim with three more deaths reported on Friday. Nearly 28 lakh people in 26 districts of the state have affected by the disaster, according to an official data.
The deaths were reported from Barpeta, Kokrajhar and Morigaon districts, taking the toll to 122. While 96 people were killed in flood-related incidents, 26 died in landslides.
Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday spoke to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal over the flood situation and expressed his solidarity with the affected people of the state.
Kovind stated that the entire nation is standing with the people of Assam and this difficult phase will pass soon, the chief minister said in a tweet.
An official report also said that more than 40 cattle have died in a week after consuming toxic wild plants in flood-affected Majuli district of Assam,
The condition in Kaziranga National Park continues to be critical. 92 percent of its area submerged in waters and 123 animals, including 12 rhinos, died.
Britian’s Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton have also expressed concern over devastation caused by floods in the Kaziranga National Park.
