The Dhing constituency is currently held by AIUDF MLA Aminul
Islam, who defeated Anwar Hussain of the Congress in 2016. The seat, one of
Assam’s 126 assembly constituencies, falls under the Kaliabor Lok Sabha
constituency.

Congress MP Gourav Gogoi currently holds the Kaliabor Lok
Sabha seat, defeating Moni Madhab Mahanta of the AGP in the 2019 General
Elections.

AIUDF has won the seat three times consecutively, in the
2006, 2011 and 2016 assembly elections. Previously, the seat saw mostly
Congress candidates win, with a few independent victories in between.
