BCCI’s WTC plan: 3 RT-PCR tests before players gather in Mumbai on May 19

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come up with its foolproof COVID-19 protocol plan for the Indian cricket team before they depart for the UK for World Test Championship finals against New Zealand in June and five-match Test series against England. 

According to reports from ANI, arrangements have been made for players to undergo three RT-PCR tests before assembling in Mumbai on May 19.

A source told ANI, “The players will be undergoing three RT-PCR tests at their homes and once they return negative tests, they will be assembling in Mumbai on May 19. Everyone will be undergoing a 14-day quarantine in India before they leave for the UK on June 2.”

All Indian cricketers, who are a part of the squad going to the UK, have got their first dose of vaccine and will get likely receive their second dose in the UK. Earlier, a BCCI official had said that if they don’t allow second dose in the UK, the vaccines might be taken from India.

The BCCI announced a 20-member squad, which includes four standby players, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Arzan Nagwaswalla. Krishna had recently tested positive for the virus but is expected to be fit by the date of departure.
