The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday cancelled the upcoming exams for Class 10 and postponed those for Class 12. The decision came following demands to put exams on hold amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in the country. The exams were scheduled to be held from May 4.

So, how will class 10 students be assessed if there is no exam?

The students, according to the Education Ministry,  will be evaluated on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. After the results for these assessments are announced, students, who are not satisfied with the marks allocated to them, will get a chance to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold exams.
