The government on Wednesday cancelled CBSE Class 10 Board exams and postponed the exams for Class 12 amid growing demands to put these key assessments on hold amid a spike in COVID-19 numbers. Results of Class 10 will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  The exams were scheduled to be held from May 4.

“Board Exams for Class 10th cancelled and 12th postponed. Results of Class 10th will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. Class 12th exams will be held later, the situation will be reviewed on 1st June by the Board,” Ministry of Education said, reports ANI.

Last year also, amid a raging pandemic, Class 10 and 12 exams were curtailed with students of both being assessed on internal exams in a few papers.
