Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Monday announced micro containment zones will be formed in areas with more than two COVID-19 patients, as he said the national capital is witnessing a fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The news comes in when the country is seeing an alarming surge in COVID-19 cases.

The national capital recorded over 4000 new virus cases on Sunday with 80,000 tests daily administered. The state assures of 5 times more testing than that of the National average. While experts have announced that this 4th wave is spreading slower than the previous waves it still is a cause of concern.

According to the World Health Organisation, as long as the positivity rate is below the 5% mark the situation should be considered under control.

Further, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that a lockdown is not a solution to tackle the rising count.

A similar statement was followed by the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and he further reassured the capital saying a lockdown would only be considered after due consultation with the masses. In Kejriwal’s letter to PM Narendra Modi, he requests the Centre to grant permissions for more vaccine centres. Furthermore, he writes that if the conditions are eased up then the entire Delhi could get vaccinated within 3 months. He implores the PM to lift the restrictions allowing him to conduct vaccines in non-healthcare facilities as well as removing the age bar making the vaccine available to all.

In the last 24 hours, the country has witnessed 1,03,558 fresh Covid cases and crossed the landmark of 8 crore vaccine doses.
