‘Delhi Chalo’: Agitating farmers to block Delhi-Jaipur highway today
- Farmers' leader announced on Wednesday that they would block the Delhi-Jaipur highway
- They gave the call after the proposal sent by the Centre was rejected by them
- Farmers are protesting against the three farm laws enacted during the Monsoon Session of Parliament
As their meetings with the Centre remained inconclusive, farmers will block the Delhi-Jaipur highway on Saturday. “On December 12, we’ll block Delhi-Jaipur road,” Balbir S Rajewal, Bharatiya Kisan Union chief had told news agency ANI on Wednesday.
His statement came after the farmers rejected the Centre’s proposal on Wednesday. Rejecting the Centre’s proposal, the farmer leader also announced they’ll protest outside Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters and in front of houses of the BJP leaders on Monday, Rajewal told ANI.

The proposal was sent following farmers’ leaders meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday that remained inconclusive. The scheduled meeting of the farmers with Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Wednesday was also called off.
Meanwhile, around 3,500 police personnel have been deployed at the five toll plazas in Faridabad, Haryana, ANI reported. Anti-riot equipment has also been deployed. The step was taken in view of the call given by agitating farmers to block toll plazas on Saturday, ANI reported quoting the Faridabad Police.

Farmers, majorly from Punjab and Haryana, are protesting since November 26 against the three farm laws that were enacted during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. They are demanding the withdrawal of the three acts. Several Opposition parties have supported their demand.
