Delhi lockdown: Who is exempted

  • Doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff are exempted 
  • Pregnant women or patients going for medical aid along with attendant are exempted
  • These individuals need to produce a valid ID card

A 6-day lockdown starting at 10 pm tonight has been imposed in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Monday. In a press conference, Kejriwal said that due to the increase in positivity rate and infection, there is a shortage of beds in the national capital and that the health system is under stress.

“In the next 6 days, we will make arrangements for more beds in Delhi. The lockdown period will be used to arrange oxygen, medicine. I request everyone to follow the guidelines,” he said.

However, certain individuals are exempted from the restriction of movement during the lockdown. These individuals need to produce a valid ID card to be exempted. 

1) Officers/officials of Government of India, its autonomous/subordinate offices, and Pais

2) Doctors, nurses and paramedical staff

3) All Judicial officers/officials/staff members of all courts of Delhi 

4) Pregnant women or patients going for medical aid along with attendant

5) Those going for testing/vaccination 

6) Persons coming from/going to Airports/Railway stations/ISBTs

7) Officials in the officers of diplomats of various countries as well as persons holding any constitutional post
